Filipe Leitão de Sousa was born in Lisbon, Portugal.
He developed his professional career across several financial institutions, as a senior executive at a Commercial Bank, a senior executive at an Insurance Institution, and also a senior executive at a Pension Fund Management Company.
He was Deputy to the Portuguese Minister of Finance in 1986.
In 1992 he was a founding partner of the law firm Leitão de Sousa & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados RL, now LSCN – Leitão de Sousa, Curto Nunes & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, SP, RL.
